BESPOKE PROJECTS: Attention to Detail
Our client was opening a new London-based restaurant and needed a wow statement piece for the lobby. His vision was to have a statement chair made in the shape of a rhino.
Our client wanted a chair that represented a rhino as lifelike as possible, however this posed a number of challenges; mainly due to its size and the surface detailing to achieve an authentic finish. We took our client's initial artists impression design of the chair and adapted it into our specialist CAD software. The complexity of the design meant that it needed to be broken down into key sections to aid manufacture. We needed to use our expertise to understand the optimum segments for manufacture to bring out the richness in the detail, particularly around the Rhino’s eye and nose.
Once each of the segments had been manufactured they were assembled to ensure a perfect seamless finish, before being given a coat of paint luxurious matt black.
The client was extremely pleased and the chair now sits pride of place in the new restaurant lobby.
